The Pontiac GTO was the original muscle car. Introduced in 1964, the GTO was restyled for 1966, which featured a sleek and aggressive body that showcased Pontiac's "Coke Bottle" styling that looks as exciting now as when it was new. This exceptional 1966 Pontiac GTO is finished strikingly in is original color, Burgundy (code N - as indicated on its trim tag). The rich Burgundy color highlights this GTO's dramatic styling that features louvered taillights, Pontiac's famous split grill and iconic hood scoop. The muscle car look is enhanced by a set of 18-inch US Mags that cleverly resemble the original Pontiac Rally ll wheels wrapped with Goodyear Eagle FI performance tires staggered 245/45R18 front and 265/35R18 rear that fill in the fender wells and create just the right stance for this classic GTO.
The interior has been completely restored with correct style Parchment upholstery with contrasting Burgundy dash, carpets and seatbelts. The factory bucket seats have the very rare headrest option. Other interior highlights include power windows, optional factory console with floor shifter, tilt steering column, upgraded wood-rimmed steering wheel, factory tachometer and gauge package with beautiful blue LED backlighting and a retro-style AM/FM/Bluetooth radio that at a glance looks just like a factory AM/FM radio.
Power and performance are provided by a 428 cubic inch Pontiac engine mated to a TH400 automatic transmission. The clean engine bay features factory-style chrome valve covers, Edelbrock chrome open element air cleaner, a new battery, upgraded aluminum pully system, chrome alternator with custom brackets, power steering and a large Cold Case aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. Exhaust flows through factory-style cast-iron exhaust manifolds, X-pipe and dual Flowmaster mufflers.
Handling is greatly improved with an upgraded suspension system that includes Wilwood drilled and slotted disc brakes all the way around, front tubular control arms, front sway bar, rear sway bar, new coils and shocks, as well as "Catapult" trailing arms in the rear supporting a 4:11 rear end with an aluminum differential cover by TA Performance.
