SD & LA Morrison started in April 1978 as a partnership with Steve & Lesley Morrison. Since starting our
business as patternmakers (Steve qualified, Lesley (his wife)) his apprentice, we have continued to develop new skills & qualifications. (Steve - Toolmaking, welding, core making, robotics) With our combined experiences we have grown the company in many directions all complimentary. We started the foundry in 1986. In 1988, we incorporated and became a company - SD & LA Morrison Pty Ltd.

In 1989 we bought our 1st CNC machining centre. ( We had several manual Turret mills & lathes by this stage). Steve & our foreman Scott had to learn new skill - manually programming for the new CNC machining centre. (In 1989 there was no computer program developed that would do this job).

In the early 90's when we started designing manifolds for some of the Aussie V8 touring cars , we also
started developing the skills required for casting magnesium as the race teams wanted the edge of the lesser
weight of magnesium castings wherever possible. Over the years we have developed the expertise in CADCAM
designing & machining and tried to keep abreast with new technology as it becomes available.

Big Block Chevrolet Manifolds

Description:

Big Block 572 Chevrolet. Xram. 10.2 Deck height. Oval butterflies.

6061 billet aluminium. 3 part  ramtube /velocity stacks.  Aluminium billet 6061 T6- head plates, twin port throttles, fuel rails, custom built linkages with custom designed 3-part ramtube - holder, spun alum. tube & m/c billet rolled top.

LS1-C5R: is the Race version manifold. It has smaller ports on the headplates and high injector.

Aurora V8 Xram: High Injector Race manifold Billet aluminium 6061 T6- head plates valley plate,throttles,fuel rails & linkage components. Spun aluminium ram tubes/velocity stacks.

Features:

Designing: We can take an idea or a sketch and design and create a 3D drawing using CAD. We custom design all of our own manifolds and many specials for Performance, Race and Hotrods. We also do  automotive & industrial  R & D when capacity allows.                              

Patternmaking: We are able to make patterns the old fashioned way - by hand or using our CAM software, write programs which allow us to cut patterns on our CNC mills. We
  then hand paint & sand the patterns to preserve them and make them more user friendly in our non-ferrous foundry.  

Non-Ferrous Castings: In our foundry we can pour castings in Aluminum, Magnesium, Bronze . Using hard sand moulds we are able to produce 1 off prototype moulds/castings,
 through to medium production runs.

Machining: CNC & Manual - We have 7 CNC mills (most with 4th axis), 4 CNC lathes and several manual machines. We can machine 1 off specials or multiple parts.
