Carl,
The best thing is you got to take it down the track. Now you can work on making it run and hook better everytime you go back to the track. Now that's the fun part. You can make little adjustments everytime and see what your results are. I know you can sqeeze another second out of that combo next time out. Have fun Carl  Glad you are back at the track. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. |
Once again Thank you everyone.
Your encouragement means alot to me. I am very lucky to have found this site and the many good friends I have made here. I had a string of bad luck and during the time of me whining and complaining about my engine woes, you all stuck in there and made me feel like it was not a total loss and kept me from selling my 65. I thank you for that! Now I have the bullet and soon the tires to make it go.....seriously, no traction in 1st gear at all, it didn't start to hook until I made the shift to 2nd. Sweet!!!!!! |
You may need to get some neck restraints when you put the new tires on.

**** CARL WE NEED THE LATEST UPDATE ***********
for me its too hot with this heat wave we are having..we are in a DROUGHT.....its horrible...its on national news...PERRY AND I are suffering.... Brian |
Update as follows.
I seem to have an electrical issue and am trying to track it. It seems to either be in the ignition or in the starter itself. I will probably post a question in engine tech. I have stickies and just need time to get it down to the tire shop and get some wheels to mount them. Hopefully I will be able to post some time slips next weekend. |
Carl we'll be waiting. Wesley

Well, got it back out tonight in 107 heat....man do not do this without a/c.
Lost 50 or so lbs. Anyway I learned some things. I only made 2 passes but learned it is running out of fuel at the top end. Ran a best of 13.13 @ 103. Had a 1.80 60, 5.25 330 8.218 1/8 @ 86.33 and thats about where she started to ask for more. my 1000 was 11.009 and 1/4 @ 13.132 @ 103.58 I still need to move my fuel pump and am thinking it needs bigger jets on the back. I pulled the bowl and it only has 78's in there now. What are all your thoughts on this. Feel free to ask Q's or provide feedback. Oh besides it being 107 it was also overcast and muggy. Last week when it was cooler I ran a 13.231 @ 102.76 and shut it down at the 1000 ft because of bad vib from driveline...it was out of round and out of balance....got it fixed and no issues there. Just want to know why when my drive line went, I was doing 110 when I let off at the 1000 and tonight could not get over 103. r/t's were .116 and .189 |
Hi Carl,
You are the man for braving that heat! Your car feels the same way about the heat. Now throw on a fire suit for some more fun. Pull some plugs, and let us see what they look like. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge on that Hot Rod? What about jet extensions in the rear bowl? In that kind of heat more jet will help. If you re jet the carb, watch your plugs to see what the changes are doing to the engine. Where is the fuel pump located, and what kind is it? Anything in the fuel lines, regulator, or the pump? If you can pull the fuel line, put the line into a 5 gallon jug and turn the pump on and make sure it's working properly. You are on heading in the right direction. What was the 60' time on the 13.231 pass? Dave |
