oil brand
I use and recommend BRAD PENN racing oil.
It's got enough ZDDP to suit me. 20-50 for drag racing. Nitro 70 for blown alcohol pulling trucks. This stuff is also so "clingy" its tough to clean off engine parts. |
Hell put some oil in her and let it ripp
I use vr1 20/50 with dry sump.... 35psi idle and around 75psi thru the traps |
Going with the Schaeffers oil 20/50 no blend.

Hey David,
I finally took the time to read the article w/o being interrupted. I understand now. I like the viscosity of a straight weight oil such as 50 or 60; but with a really good additive for cold starts. On an older engine, it seems like a good comprise in Spring/Summer in my CJ7 w/ Mopar 360 (mildly built). I see good OP @ OT & idle, but I also have a little security in those oils when the temp is quickly fluctuating like Jeeps can do. The motor is broke in well & probably has pretty big bearing tolerances- oil pressure w/ 10/40 @ idle bugs me too much when I look at the gauge & see 8lbs... I guess it is part mental too. |
Ain't it fun to learn sh*t?
Love this forum . . |
RK: INDEED!! I have learned so much from these dudes.... I got all my carb knowledge here... sometimes at 1AM in the morning. Other times, RJ saved me much pain in the wisdom gained.
