I assume some dude started the 3/4 cam thing long ago when he discovered it had the lift & duration which was not stock, but not as radical as a "Full Race Cam" which was invented by his older brother or something. You know a Full Race Cam when you hear it on the local Nova in your area.... it bogs until 4700RPM, comes on & takes a dump emitting more black smoke than a diesel.... at a stop, this vechile must be brought to neutral every time. It will always have a "double pumper" on it too (which is also too big). Usually, a mullet is in order & THESE VECILES MUST HAVE REAR AIR SHOCKS PUMPED UP ALL THE WAY. Sometimes you will notice one red light on the back of a traction bar (cause the other is broken) as well. A true poser will bungee/strap a commercial fire extingusher to the seat so that a side view of it can be seen by passing drivers (this is because the full race cam has not "kicked" in yet). Last, a really poor job of an old hood scoop must be installed w/ the "CU IN" painted on the side of it too. Scooter

DirkaDirka 08-03-2009 01:22 PM

Hey Scooter I thought that they alsway raised the back end by installing 2" block under the springs and they also lowered the front end to make it look "meaner". Oh and you cant forge that they only bought bald tires so they can "smoke em" easier too. JMO

TheRabbit 08-03-2009 01:41 PM

Ok Scooter I thought you and I were getting along just fine until you dissed everything from my hair cut to my fire extingusher bracket!! lol
You don't like the 396ci on the hood??
And I thought Rednecks only lived in the South!! LOL!!

This will only make sence for the older crowd. There was once a tire brand called Mohawk. It would make a smoky burnout like a funny car. Of course, half of the guys had a peg leg rear end, but the smoke was so thick you could not tell!!!

I grew up in the greatest days.....

Dave

DirkaDirka 08-03-2009 02:00 PM

i think I have heard of that brand.

TheRabbit 08-10-2009 01:00 PM

Nothing still beats the car I saw with the holley 4 barrel bolted to the hood. Funniest thing I've ever seen on a car.

As someone in the other thread said, there must be a massive "Corvette junkyard" somewhere. ..or millions or corvettes are missing their original engines.

I think its an old used car salesmen technique to justify the cost/value of a particular veh in question. its kind of funny, i have a vette, and its not the orig. motor lol

DirkaDirka 08-10-2009 06:16 PM

WOW.... Someone stole it didnt they. They wanted to say that they had a vette motor in their ride. LOL

It is probably in a 79 Monte Carlo somewhere.

TheRabbit 08-11-2009 03:37 AM

DirkaDirka 08-15-2009 10:10 AM

some guy had a Holley Carb Bolted to the hood of his car with a chrome air cleaner on it...I guess from 50 ft away it would give the illusion of a carb sticking through the hood.

kwkracing 08-15-2009 07:58 PM

Haha, guy just stoped by and told me about the deal his buddy just got down the street. A iroc camaro with a corvette motor for $900.00.

I died laughing to myself thinking about this post and him saying that!!

LMAO!! His parents should have gone fishing instead of having drunken $#X!!! LOL

MEMRACING62 08-16-2009 10:14 AM

isn't funny how the motors just jump out of all these vettes out there and end up flying into every half ass junk out there? maby they should bolt them down better!! where did all the motorless vettes go?

FullTimeRacing 08-16-2009 10:20 AM

I bet pepol put 6cyl's in the vettes because they were to powerful,or used the fiberglass to make boats.

Tod74 09-26-2009 11:51 PM

There is apparently more to the "Corvette Motor" mystique than I thought.....It seems the motor didn't necessarily have to come in a Corvette from the factory to be valuable...It just needs to have been bolted into a Corvette at some point.

kwkracing 09-27-2009 09:28 PM

Haha, like this guy down the road with his "rare" 68 nova hatchback with a deluxe 305, little old lady owned it, haha, he says he wants 30k for it and its worth 2500 max! It so hard for everyone around her not to laugh while talking to him.

Tod74 09-27-2009 09:50 PM

I was helping my dad put the engine into his El Camino this weekend. It is a dish piston 400 with double hump heads. I saw the heads and said "Oh man...double hump heads, this must be a corvette motor"

He looked at me like I was stupid and said ..."It came out of a station wagon."

I didn't know they made corvette station wagons.

outlaw256 09-28-2009 02:42 AM

that guy may have a really rare car!!68 nova hatchback.ive never seen one and with a 305. hell that engine is way ahead of its time considering it didnt even come out until the mid 70s, unless its the gmc 6cly truck engine.it may be worth 30,000 lol

Scooterz 09-28-2009 02:56 PM

LOL! "Camel Back" heads.... I just remembered another one. "angle plug" heads... if I remember correctly they were elite & had a mystique too. yeah, I want some of those 202 angle plug/double hump heads.

bluegrassjh 10-09-2009 02:02 PM

I think it's just a way of embeleshing the truth. Like saying you have a low back pressure, free flow exhaust system....when all you got are stock manifolds with no exhaust. Like sayin their date was fine as h3ll....but leavin out the part where the lights were off.
I like hearing "It has a NASCAR engine."
