Finally made a few good passes yesterday although it was 98* and terrible racing conditions. Track was cut a little to deep and to wet for good et's but...
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...annedImage.jpg I'm usually a tenth to a tenth and a half faster on my 60' times and the same on the end (200' track). With the track being slow my reaction time was crappy too, but I haven't run on a tree in a while either. This is still all motor. I did finally get all my nos stuff hooked up, but I have to get a new converter before I hit it. I've got a new single speed transmission and it's letting the motor turn to 8,300 to 8,500 on every pass so I've gotta make a 4link adjustment or maybe even a gear change to get the rpm's back down a little. It NEVER ends does it?! lol Good thing was we made 4 passes, nothing broke and brought home a little money. :D http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...eeses-Tach.jpg |
Well dangit' I went out second round. I'm -.002 on the tree run it through to a 9.816 on a 9.80, he is .216 and run's 10.55 on a 10.65. I guarantee you he wasn't holding a tenth.
99° today but it made it easy to dial. My car ran 9.783, 9.781, 9.80, 9.816. The track was breaking down a little from the heat. 60's were slowing. Curtis |
i made it too the final 6 and went out...... but damn it felt good just to get wheel time finally

Finished the new 540 This spring, made a few test passes and first race was in April.Second dail in pass the ring and pinion let go,took three or four weeks to put that back together and went to back the car out of the shop,no go.!! When the ring & pinion let go it took out the trans input shaft.Pulled the trans and went through it ,sent the converter back to PTC for a freshen up.
Went back to the track three weeks ago, made nine passes and got down to the last three cars, first full race in a year&half. Foot braking the car and got beat on the tree,my .015 to his .007.Good run ,and i was happy, put it in the money.!! 1/8 mile racing car is running 5.60s,went back two weekends ago first pass out of the trailer, the harmonic damper spit the guts out at the the stripe,(used innavator west damper)had clutches stuck in my brand new rad,and took out the trans cooler.Damn the luck.!!!!!32 year marriage is on the rocks ,but I'm going RACING in two weeks.!!!LOL p.s. ran the car for five years and only changed the oil and plugs, never hurt a single part,go figure.?THAT'S RACING FOR YA.!!!!!!! |
racing
Sent the damper back to innavators west, turns out the 2-3 year out damper the racing buddy sold me was 20 years old.!!!Got the shaft from a racing buddy, but innavators stepped up and will sell me a new damper at a discount price.!!!How's that for service.!! :)

I could have sworn I was running 250 mph !....lol.....you do realize we are running the 1/8th Mile...my best MPH so far is 154 mph...what do you think it would run in 1/4 ?...just curious ? I do not know of a way to figure it out. seriously..the older I get the worse the Heat is for me Down here and I can't take it like I use to...the track was 147 degrees....the best 60ft the car had all day was 1.12 it normally gets down around 1.10's....I swear my last pass was 250 mph...did i say that already...duuuuuuhuuuuu  !!!!! Glad your Home Dirka and Thanks for your Service....Curtis I know you are soo proud of your son and I am as well...may God stand by his side from here on out and bring him home for good ! also Be Safe Curtis on your Next Race... |

|

Thanks Brian, he is home safe and sound for at least the next 6 months. My son-in-law just returned from Kuwait a week ago. He is a senior airman. We had them all home Monday night for a cookout and my baby son proposed to his girlfriend in front of everyone :D :D :D . It was a blessed evening for sure.
Those are some great pictures that photog got of your burnout. Looking at those shots with the front end off the ground I would think you would go at least 240.    Good luck on the build Dirka, that's half the fun to me. See y'all at the track. Curtis |

As for your time I seen someone that went 4.40 in the 1/8th and on the 1/4 he went a 6.60. He had the same setup on the 1/4 as he did on the 1/8th. that might give you an idea of how fast you can be in the 1/4. |
a rough calculation is to take your 1/8th mile time and multiply by 1.5
again thats just rough and it all depends on your setup and rear end gears. Brian I would say you are good for around 230-250mph in the 1/4 with the right gearing. NOW THATS FAST!!! :D |

Of course that calculation doesnt apply to MPH, but just think if it was and ypu went 250mph!!!!!!
The fastest I ever went in the 1/8th was 108mph. I have had a motorcycle up to 148mph but I was much younger and my balls were a WHOLE lot larger! |

Those are some damn nice #'s B. That 4.71 @ 150 works out to about 7.53 @ 186 in the 1/4. That would be impressive :!: 8)
|
1/8th x 1.575 = 1/4
7.40@185 is what it'd run close to. very impressive :D |

Curtis the earlier bikes really didnt have the chambered mufflers, I searched for some more pics of an RD350 and they all had those straight looking pipes. heres another one
http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/...ha-rd350-1.jpg In 1984 I owned on of the last street legal 2 strokes made, it was a Yamaha RZ350, that little bike was wicked but ran out of juice at about 100mph. It came from the factory with expansion chambers. Sold it to buy the FJ in 1986 and my buddy I sold it to wiped it out 1 month later. http://www.rd350lc.net/84_rz350_34_600.jpg |
The last bike I had was a 76 KZ900. I sold it (in 95) shortly after I got married. Man was I an idiot!
