carl that is what I meant by extra wheels. you can get some rally wheels like you have for around $70-$80 a wheel paint them black or silver or heck get them chrome ones like you have and then mount up your slicks. that way you got the cruize tires and the race tires and all it takes is a few minutes to change back and forth!!!! the dot slicks are pretty soft and will last a lot longer if you just use them for the track. also dont get carried away in the waterbox, I have some bf goodrich 295 60 15's I used for 10 passes they are well broke in, had them on a pickup I used to have. Man got some good pics, damn near wore them tires out!!!!!!

carl, it should run what your looking for 2.16 60fts are blistering lol. i just have to ask what the hell made your think that tire would hook with that motor lol . hope you get the fuel fixed and back to the track with some tires and it will run 11s. a friend of mine just ran a 11.63 with 480hp in a 3750# 68 chevelle so you have all the motor you need to do it. goood luck but i don't think you need it. :)

Hi Carl,
It doesn't matter what you ran! You made it to the TRACK. Now to fix the small problems you had, just a little more time on the car. It doesn't matter what you ran, your 1st day at the track will find most of your problems. Remember it's not a car show at the track! Buying a set of ralleys to mount your slicks on is the way to go. I just did a set for a friend 8" for a bad as_ Chevelle with a 598 BBC I did drill them, only for the HP this car puts out. When doing braided lines always clean the lines with brake clean, and blow them out. I usally do this twice to make sure no rubber gets into your system! Great job on the car, it looks really nice! You will get the bugs worked out and be FLYIN down the track very soon. Remeber it is a very COOL street car and not an all out race car! So what ever it runs it's a hel_ of a nice RIDE!!!! Dave |
Thanks again guys,
Mark, Thanks for the wheel idea. Time to visit uncle Les...lol Speaking of water boxes...lol...I watched a guy Friday night go in with street tires and came out dripping water...almost lost it on the line, poor sap. My next planned trip out is in three weeks, by then all kinks should be worked out. I also have a set of stiffeners coming from Global West. |

I also have a set of stiffeners coming from Global West. 23 yrs, ago i ran one, was track champion in 1984, and went down to 4 cars at div. 6 race of champions, only to break a spider gear in the burn out box. Over 600 entries that day at Bakersfield. O'h i ran 9"X28" mickies, it would run 11.50's and 11.60's all day long at PHX, in 110 degrees temp. amd 11.40's at bakersfield. Can't wait until you get it hooked, i ran a bone stock 427 with L88 cam, headers,750 carb.
