no more excuses!

I got my motor back from the shop from having the cam degreed in and setting rocker arm geometry up on them T&D rockers what a pain!
Tonight I ordered everything else I needed to finish the build and install the motor and tranny.
It has been along time coming getting to this point( 2 years ) now if I could just find the time to do it, serioulsy. My car is at my ex-wifes house in Southaven, Ms and I live 49 miles away in Bartlett, Tn.
But like I said no more excuse it's time to get the 69 rolling.

Gimmie fuel gimmie fire gimmie that which I desire!!!!

Tod74 03-25-2008 03:59 AM

uh oh!...ex wife's house. That spells trouble. Take a picture of that car and all your tools, then RIP IT IN HALF...then try to decide which half you get to keep...lol

jk

signsbyesa 03-25-2008 04:11 AM

at the ex's house, cheese pizza, when you go to start on the car
you better take a box of chicken, and tell her she has never looked
better, and offer to cut the grass and take out the trash. After the
car is in your hands, tell her to choke on the chicken and burnout
on the front lawn, knocking the trash over ha ha ha (just jokin)
good luck

I feel like the car is safe. Cp

slowmotion 03-27-2008 02:53 AM

"Sounds like one to keep :D Let us know when you get your 496 done.I want to know if I can beat you.Specs???"

We tried to make it work but after nineteen years we decided to call it quits.

Engine specs are.....
Eagle 4340 rotating assemble W/ H beams rods, 13 to 1 srp, Merlin vr345 cc heads, T&D shaft mount roller rockers, dart intake, lunati 722/722 solid roller, HP 1050 dominator.
Car Specs are....
69 camaro fiberglass everything minus roof and top rear quarters, lexan on doors and side glass, 2x3 tube chassis firewall back, 1.76 glide from ambruzi racing, Trans Specialties custom 8 inch spragless 5800rpm converter, ladder link set up w/ coil overs on a narrowed dana 60 W/ 568 cogs, 33x 10.5w's slicks.
What do you think it will run in the 1/8?

Tod74 03-28-2008 09:38 PM

5.50's-5.70's ???

just a uneducated guestimate.

suicidebomb 03-28-2008 10:10 PM

This is a W.A.G. 5.50s or faster, depending on how it hooks, i usually guess pretty good on Passtime. Let us know will ya?

cepx111 03-28-2008 11:28 PM

I think the key word there is "IF" it hooks...lol
The rearend and rims will hold a much bigger tire but going with the 10.5W's cause they are new and were on the car when I got it., will see.
Thanx guys for the replies and goodluck this weekend to all racing.
Charles

olds48 03-29-2008 05:31 PM

Yeah. You got me beat :D .Let me know how that cam feels.Been looking at one similar to that. You got a grind number for that cam?5.50 sounds awful fast to me :?: But it really anybody's guess!!!

suicidebomb 03-29-2008 06:17 PM

I try to compare his car to mine, its really apples to oranges. Mine weighs 1850 lbs. i really have no idea how much his weighs. i know his has gobs more hp than mine. i can run 5.90s at will. i may very well be low on that, Its a WAG :) I*m not THAT good at guessing on Passtime.

It depends on how good it hooks and how much that thing weighs...when he said "Fiberglass everything" that makes me think it is very light....George runs 5.40's with his 496 in the Camaro...should be a fun ride either way.

If it hooks.

olds48 03-30-2008 06:00 AM

My car has a 496.11:1 with a 652 lift solid roller(Comp 308 AR).Charles, you got more compressoin and a larger cam(obviously  ).My car wieghs 3125 lbs without me,I'm 240 lbs.I've run a best of 6.90 at 98mph but I really believe it's got 2 or 3 tenths left in it,since I never got a chance to tune it very much last year.I don't think the difference in your motor would make your car run a full second and a half quicker than me.I looked it up on a program of my buddies one time,a 3300 lb car needs 1100 hp to run a 5.70 in the 1/8.Don't know if that is true,I don't have alot of faith in "computer dynos",though they do seem to be fairly accurate.I would GUESS that your car weighs about 2700-2900 lbs(am I right :?: :D ) and that it will run 6.00-6.30.Let me know so I know what I am shooting for to beat. :D

suicidebomb 03-30-2008 10:22 AM

3300 lbs going 660 ft is2,178,000 ft lbs of work. You*re doing it in 5.7 seconds, so thats 382105.2632 ftlbs per second. Divide that by 550ftlbs per second ( 1 hp ), you get 695 hp. Thats from start line to finish line and thats an average. So peak rear wheel hp would be higher, now if someone can come up with a peak #, we can add frictional losses and come up with peak flywheel hp. :) I think?

JUST REMEMBER THIS---A COMPUTER SAYS A BEE CAN NOT POSSIBLY FLY!!!!!---IT IS WRONG    ---I HAD LOT'S OF PEOPLE SCREAM AND YELL NUMBERS FROM FORMULAS THAT CERTAIN FACTS MEAN CERTAIN FACTS--IT IS FOR ABSOLUTELY PERFECT SCENARIOS---MY 65 MUSTANG YEARS AGO-SBF-4 SPEED-5:13 GEARS--RAN CONSTANT 6.78--6.88'S IN THE 1/8 MILE BUT IT WAS LOUSY SLOW IN THE 1/4 MILE---IT WAS COMPLETELY FINISHED AT THE END OF THE 1/8 MILE--THE FORMULA DIDN'T SHOW THE WHOLE STORY!!!---THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A VERY FAST 1/4 MILE BUT IT COULD NOT DO IT[ EVERYTHING WAS PUT TOGETHER FOR THAT SHORT DISTANCE--PERIOD] GO OUT AND RUN IT-THEN YOU WILL KNOW FOR SURE

suicidebomb 03-30-2008 12:02 PM

You guys are right, of course, you*re just gonna have to try it. I run 1/4, aguy convinced me I needed 5.13s. So i gets a set and put em in the car. Slowed me down by a bunch,  :x They didn*t last long! besides all that math gets my thinker overheated.

Tod74 03-30-2008 12:31 PM

5.13's are great in the quarter if your tires are 53 inches tall. :D

suicidebomb 03-30-2008 12:44 PM

YEP, should*a cogitated on that a little more.

Hey Charles,

Where you gonna run at first, Memphis or Holly Springs? Because we both know that Byhailia or Fulton doesn't count.
With that said, i don't see a problem hooking, because those tires are over 12" wide. Predictable HP is probably close to 750 plus and if the car weighs i think about 2650/2750lbs. I believe you can expect 5.60's to 5.70's and you know that i know the tracks there.
Maybe i'll be there when you get it to the track, since i'm back and forth between La. and Ms. In fact i was there when it snowed a month ago, but only because my rental house took on water 4 days earlier and i had to take care of that, perhaps one of the worse weeks in my life. Went from 5 1/2 inches of rain in one hr. to 24 degrees 2 days later then snow. All this while trying to save the carpet, ( i lost that round ).
Any way my friend PM me when you are ready to go to the track and i just may be up there, also i may be at Memphis Super Chevy in April running my car.

Zip.

cepx111 03-31-2008 11:14 PM

I'm looking forward to the super Chevy show this month. Maybe I'll see you there Zipper.
Hell I live right around the corner from Memphis motorsports park now since the divorce I've been living in Barlett, Tn which is about 10 miles as a crow flys.
I imagine when I get the camaro done I'll run it at Byhalia first them make my way down to Holly Springs for a real time run.
Goodluck and I'll keep in touch.

Charles

cepx111 06-20-2008 12:19 AM

Update!
I got the motor running and the car it's now out of harms way from the ex. It's at the new holding spot which is the house I have been renting till I get in my new house at the end of June.
The motor sounds really good, and it revs quickly, has good oil pressure and doesnt over heat so good so far.
I've been busy taking care of safety issues on the chassis this week like new brakes and balljoints etc. I had one little merf up last friday when I brought it home.
One header hung down alittle lower than the other one ( pass ) and I went to back into the garage to do some maint on the suspension and uh uhh I felt a crunch , yep I killed the pass side header, it was beyond repair, it folded up 3 out of the four primary pipes and smuched the collector up pretty good too.
It got hung up on that little step up on the garage floor while I was backing up and I never even thought to check for clearance ( duh).
Bad thing is they were the high dollar 2401 hooker slip on collector style headers ($789), ouch! Fortunatley for me I didnt buy them and they were kinda old and pretty rusted out but still I could have used them for a bit.
Got some headers on order now should be ready to race by next weekend.
keep ya'll updated, Charles

Scooterz 06-20-2008 09:50 AM

Good luck CP- she sounds like a true ground-pounder w/ some SNORT. You got the race-bug again now... hard to stop a man on a mission once you have fire in the hole! Thanks fopr the e-mails/help in the last few days.

olds48 06-20-2008 02:59 PM

Man Charles, that sucks on your headers :( Hung mine on the cattle gaurd on time, but they were dynomax-70-dollar-elcheapos!Good luck with your ride and wish me luck.Gonna enter my first race tomorrow. No more test and tune!!

cepx111 06-20-2008 09:41 PM

Thx guys I cant wait to see what this thing is gonna run!
If I hadnt screwed up th eheaders i could be running this weekend but it wasnt meant to be.
I'm probably gonna drive the black ghost weekend anyhow, landon's got the rearend back together, again.....lol
Goodluck at the track this weekend Eric, remember to kill the tree man it's where you 90% of your advantage in bracket racing.
Cp

olds48 06-21-2008 04:41 PM

Well,I didn't exactly kill the tree.Cut a .102 light on my first and only pass.Starter broke when going for the second round of qualifying.Oh well.Better luck next week :D Still felt good just to be there :D
