Who can make a 1250hp bigger in cfm.
 

I got a 1250HP and what I need or want to know is what companies can make this thing flow. Looking for atleast 1400cfm out it. Of course price is a biggie. This is for my pull truck and its idle or wide open. Names , links or phone numbers would be great. Couple of guys including Curtis said that 1600cfm would be ideal.

Rons terminator supposed to have 2100 cfms. I've seen alot of these working great on big engines. Just bought one for mine this offseason. Guess we'll see. They seem expensive until you think about your total cost with carb. I had $1000 in fuel system and $1300 in carb.

If you ever get stuck with it let me know :D the only pain in the rear part about injection is getting it correct once you get it there you change nothing. I know a lot of people make the injection out to be a lot of work, in 2 years the only time I changed mine was when I had a intake gasket leak and it was showing lean on egt, as soon as I figured it out I put it right back to where it was and it was good to go.

This is for a single carb deal on gas. I cant run alky or inj. Believe me if I was able to do alcohol I'd be inj long time ago. 1 carb and thats all i can run.

Check out Pro-Systems their carbs work good.

Pro-Systems has a 1600cfm dominator conversion they do. Huge throttle blades added, venturi mods, booster changes etc. they do work. But, they get $1600 plus your carb. They can also do milder versions for less. I wouldn;t hesitate to call APD either, as Hammertime suggested, their carbs work very well. One of my customers is debating sending his 1250 to Pro for that conversion, but, its a money thing with him also. Patrick said he GAURENTEED him a minimumn of 35hp, and said he would refund his money if it didn;t make that diff. He said, also, on his combo, that it could pick up 50. Its a 598 Big chief deal. Those are the engines that really wake up

I've also heard on mine that the carb is a major choke point on it. Thats one thing that doesnt concern me is E.Ts. All i care is that it screams at 8500plus for 15 secs. LOL, I filled out the spec sheet for pro systems shortly ago. But I think I'll call also.

I sure hope you make the call to APD also, call and see what they say. They build motors and carbs they've seen pleny of power before. They do circle track, drag racing, truck pulling the list goes on.

I'll be making a few calls on mon. Need to know more about the enginge requirements also.

i purchased an APD alcohol custom built 1150 cfm last year and couldn't have been more happy with it. i would not hesitate with either company

$1,600 plus your carb sounds really steep speacially if ya got a $1500 piece to begin with...WOW ! but i guess they are getting it.

I don't think you need more than 1250 cfms. Maybe a better built carb. Check back with us but Ill bet they set you up with a 1150 to 1250 cfm set up.
If RPMs is what you want:
Big heads
Alum. rods
Lots of spring pressure
and a big stick
is what your looking for.

Couldnt agree more, 1250 should be plenty big enough if built right.
we've ran a 1150 APD on a 565 Big Duke motor that made 1150hp on the dyno.

Thatsw what I have exactly, Except 7" Oliver rods. Heads flow 520ish, 288*,298* @ .050, .883Int, .833Exh at the valve, The new Brodix Intake design. I upgraded a couple of things along the way also. Dry sump, .904" lifters, Curtis did some more touch up on the heads and intake. So if this thing likes 8500+ thats what it'll turn.

Maybe I can borrow it to make a pass in my 4link dragster. I always have wondered how a motor from your type of racing would do in dragracing. Probably JUST HAUL ASS!!!
I have a top dragster but only have a .775 lift cam with 250lb spring pressure. Working on consistancey and durability.

Thats where drag and pullin differ. I can car less about consistancy and you guys do. :wink: But we have to make ours pretty stout to take the extreme abuse. Nothing like wfo for 12-20secs and choke it down so it almost kills on ya. This motor of mine is built for the rpm. Gotta love it

just call pat at pro systems, he will tell you what is needed, probably a lot smaller than you think, he built two carbs for me and they were perfect, not even a jet change was needeed. Plus he talks to you like he knows you , and any proplem at the track , call him and he helps right now , I wont ever buy another carb without going thru him, what ever he charges is worth ever dime

I was able to borrow a BIG carb from a fellow truck puller. It has 2.200 throttle blades. He couldnt remember what cfm it was. But it picked up 6hp on top and areas of 10-20 trough the mid-range. So a big carb did help a good amount. This is at the wheel numbers. 740RRWHP which is on my chasis 1070hp.

So thats your new cam, huh? Now I know! LOL :D :D

I would seriously consider PRO SYSTEMS.. they really have there act together .. not only does there product work incredibilty well.. they have awesome support and standby there work 100%..So give Patrick a call at pro systems... you wont be disappointed.

I can't catch your motor in HP, but I have caught the truck a few times last year with my little HP motor. :D :shock:
