Deal: Purchasing solid BBC roller Lifters from Seller
Seller: States for $162.00 will sell used set that has low runs good condition w/pushrods Buyer: Recieves Lifters and rightaway notices that the bearings can be seen wheels looked worn on the sides. Contacted seller and agreed to send set to Crower for Inspection and repair. Crower: Took 43 days to contact buyer, was told all lifters needed to be repaired , the bill $350.00. I was stumped and informed them of the situation with the seller saying they where in good condition, I was so lucky, they lowered it to cost of 125.00 plus 25.00 shipping. do you feel the seller should pay half the repair cost? I asked for 62.50 back The seller was one of us on this site....said No. |

What is a Fair end to this Deal between the seller and the Buyer? Will post the end of this after a couple of your responses, you wont believe the outcome. Your Bro Beastmaster..... This makes no sense. Contacted seller and agreed to send set to Crower for Inspection and repair. Who sent the lifters to crower seller or the buyer?
|
hear let me try
lunati wants 642.00 new-minus pushrods u paid 162.00. and now have new set for312. incuding shipping.
in the end u lucked out. |
I read it as the product received by the buyer was not as advertised by the seller. Buyer contacts the seller and an agreement is made by both parties to send the lifters to crower for inspection and repairs. After more than a month Crower notifies the buyer that all the lifters need repair to the tune of $350.00. Buyer explains to Crower the circumstances involving the purchase and they agree to drop the repair price to $150.00 because he already had it shoved up his butt on the initial purchase. Buyer contacts the guy he got the lifters from and tells him he'll split the repair bill with him ($62.50) less the shipping charge. The seller basically tells him to eat it. I see it as a customer making a purchase and taking the pipe on a falsely advertised product.

From what i see the buyer paid 162.00 for the lifters then sent them out for repair 43 days later he was contacted that the repair was done and the bill was 350.00 he explained the deal to them they dropped the price down to 125.00 plus shipping of 25.00 . he then contacted the seller ask for 62.50 back and the seller said no.so he is out 312.00 plus the shipping for the repair.

BBC Solid Crower roller lifters-
SO Far: Crower only charged 125.00 repaired and shipped to my door, they dropped 25.00 shipping, I was just so mad because these were sold as purchased new in 2006, few runs and good ready to install condition, this was not the case, all I asked for was half the repair bill, was I wrong? I'm not the only person ripped by one of our own here, I should have known better when I seen he only had a 97.1 rating......I was raised that if you make a deal you make an honest one or not at all!... Bro Beast.....
|
Beast i understand were you are coming from . Right is right wrong is wrong.
It don't matter what the final price was they were suppose to have been good lifters. Not needing rebuilt . Myself ya i think paying half to have them rebuilt was the right thing to do. |
I agree 100 percent that it sucks when something is not what its suppose to be as described but always remember that some parts you should never buy used. I have a couple set of them lifters with very few runs on them I would through them in the junk before trying to pass them on to someone else cause the main thing is ya just never know! In the the end I agree seller should split the repair bill. JM2C
|
Yep Cool i also have a few set's of lifters i know how many runs are on them but i would never sell them just because you never know what could happen .
I have one set that has twenty runs on them dropped a valve and had to pull the engine all apart i will reuse them but that's only because i know but would not sell them to anyone. |
Screwed?
So its still a good deal if someone sells you parts that are not what they are advertised to be as long as you can get them fixed cheaper than you can buy new ones??Shit,Ive been doing this wrong for 10 years on here,All that junk I wouldnt sell could have been money in the bank? Not the way I do business,I tell you its good,Its good or I send your money back,Thats the way Business is suppost to be done...I have actually bought parts (some off here) Thats absolutly junk that I have trashed & took the loss rather than trying to screw someone else with it,Im still up & running & it hasnt broke me yet..JMO
All you folks that think this is still a great deal remember this if or when it happens to you.. |

Now if the seller told him they were solid lifters and then they came in as rollers thats another story...but condition can always be a gray area when opinions are involved. nothing wrong in asking him to pay for half of the re-build but IMO he is not wrong if he declined to pay...again just my 2 cents.. another clear reason I do not bother buying used TQ Converters, lifters ,camshafts, pistons ( basically any rotating natural wearing parts) etc.......unless I know the guy and the parts....just saying. |
what ever! he didnt get screwed by crower he got screwed by seller again JMO
