electric

Guys ive only been bracket racing my sbc a few yrs. I want to now go too a electric water pump and fan..How much real world hp will i gain, and what do you guys reccommend for water pump. thanx brett

You will see the biggest gain with the fan. But I think the best part is you can run the water pump and fan to cool down between rounds.

With the electric H2O pumps being in use for several years now, they're so reliable you can use them on street/race machines. Used to be you'd only use them for short time runs like drag racing. The top name brands like Meziere and Moroso would be good choices. I've no feedback on the Proform and Aerospace Components pumps.
The above all replace the mechanical pump. Then you have the electric motor driven mechanical pumps for drag racing only, and remote pumps for 'other' applications.

I always have liked CSR brand.

The clear anodized one look pretty good with aluminum heads, intake, and valve covers.

Ill have to check them (csr) out too. Ill see if i can find any feedback on all of em...thanx

Last year I had to order a replacement motor for my CSR. It took almost 4 months to get a motor. I'd try a different brand if I were you.

Did you order it from Jegs?

I don't want to get in the mix, and i'm not trying to sell anything, but i do sell ProComp, electric water pumps, they are dirt cheap compared to other brands, i've sold about a dozen of them with no problems, one guy i know has run one for over 5 yrs.
In fact Hammertime runs one with no problems also.
I have a CSI out in my shop that needs a motor, the replacment motor cost more than a new ProComp pump.

Just saying.

Zip.

I have owned 2 CSR/CSI pumps for several years without any issues. Maybe I am just lucky.

The only one I had trouble with was a Moroso. It just leaked at the seal.

Electric fan & water pump Vs. stock pulleys, pump & fan would be a 3-10hp gain add few more hp if you use a WOT kill switch on the alternator to cancel out that increased parasitic loss.

Electric fan & pump Vs. under drive pulleys, flex fan & aftermarket pump would be too close to call maybe + few hp with a wot kill on alt.

I don't think I would ever feel confident driving far from home in a street car w/ electric pump unless I had a backup plan in case it failed.
