MURRAY at CAM PERFORMANCE

1st thing i need to say is I am not the buyer, Mr. Dave Dunlap is and is a friend of mine, Dave is old school and does not use a computer and asked me to help him out. Seems Murray at Cam performance sold Dave a Blown Big block chevy ready to drop in and go, the deal has gone on for over 3 years (this is Daves statement to me) and he paid Murray over $20K for this engine, as of today he still does not have it. Murray sent me a message a couple weeks ago and said the engine was on the dyno but he was waiting for a few small parts. Okay, maybe so here is what I think would be a good faith on Murrays part, take a few pictures of Daves engine along with a list of parts you used in the build,Post them on this site, that will show that in fact you do have an engine for Dave and it will let all of us know what you put in the build. I am not calling you a scammer but I posted this over 6 months ago and you called Dave and put a little scare in him and told him I better take it off this site, and I did because Dave asked me to. So lets get this cleared up and make your customer happy, just give him what he paid for, its an easy deal.Murray Lets get you on here to tell your side of the story, you say he still owes you money, he says you are paid in full. How about those pictures of Daves engine??? Do you have his engine?UPDATE: Murray sent me a list of parts he said was used in the engine build as I requested, not sure why he did not come on here and post them but here is his parts list.#1. Block is our "PRO" block. #2. Diamond pistons. #3. 4340 forged rods. #4. 4340 forged crank. (he gave no brand names is why i did not post them) #5 Howards Hyd roller cam. #6.Afr 220 heads ans Jesel shaft rockers, manly push rods. #7. Cloyes timing chain. #8.Moroso oil pan and pump. #9.Msd distributor. #10. CVR electric water pump. #11. Moroso Vacuum pump.#12.ATI dampner. #13.Arp fastners. #14.FEL pro gaskets. #15.Blower Shop Alky 871 blower. #16,. Enderle Bug catcher injector.

Anybody can take a picture of an engine, that does not prove a thing. If I spent over 20K for an engine and
had not received it in a timely manner, I would make Mr. Murray spend the 20K plus on an attorney, because
when my attorney got through with him the engine would have been a lot less.

SuperComp1R 01-21-2018 10:03 AM

might be hard to fake this one, has a few different things going on it, such as a bead blasted blower, so yes it will prove that he has this motor or not.

I have got a few E mails from people on here that have seen this, not sure why they don't want to post there questions on here, so i will just say that there are a lot of good engine builders out there but I found out years ago that I can go to people like Reher & Morrison or Scott Shafiroff for the same price or less and its more often than not built and shipped when they said it would be.

BigBlockMark 01-27-2018 06:00 AM

I find the bigger the engine builder, the more it will cost and the longer it will take to get it. One possible exception is Scott Shafiroff. He claims to have inventory and good people to do an engine in as little as a week. He has a video online of his shop, equipment, inventory and how he does his engine work in a short time.

SuperComp1R 01-27-2018 06:47 AM

I have purchased from Reher and Morrison and Scott Shafiroff, both have been on time, and i paid what i was quoted and got the parts i paid for, as i said there are a lot of good engine builders, then there are some who are pretty scary. best to get a solid quote from any builder and hold him to it. A quote means parts quoted and a time frame. Sometimes cheaper is not the way to go.

update, murray says buyer still owes him money, just not sure how much, asked the buyer to send all his invoices to him to see if they match???? my question to murray is, you sent him his invoices, why would they not match?

Harbone 02-15-2018 12:43 PM

Murray had sent me a few messags and I honestly thought he would come over to the forum and give some sort of explanation
I guess that is not happening, I really hope Dave either gets what he paid for or his money back!

SuperComp1R 02-17-2018 07:30 AM

From my point of view this 3+ year engine build sure looks like it fits in this scammer section, but if I am wrong Murray come on this site and tell us your side of this story.

SuperComp1R 03-06-2018 06:36 AM

Well murray, are you ever going to send dave his engine? one thing i have noticed that no one has come on here as a customer of murrays and told us all how wrong we are about murray and how he/she has done business with him and what a great guy he is......

SuperComp1R 06-18-2018 05:34 AM

Hey Murray, is Dave ever going to get his engine or his money back? He just called me and said you want him to send you copys of all the invoices......wait for it......"YOU SENT HIM THAT SHOWS HOW MUCH HE PAID YOU". really dude??? do you even have the motor is my question?

Harbone 06-18-2018 09:25 AM

He talked a good story when all this started but now I am thinking he was out to screw him over the whole time...

SuperComp1R 06-21-2018 07:57 PM

agree 100%.

shawnp 07-31-2018 06:58 AM

What shop is he using in the U.S. now? He ran thru my buddy for a while until he wore out that welcome. Probably could do a search here for the feedback on him.

SuperComp1R 08-01-2018 07:38 AM

not sure, Dave still does not have his engine. I have been waiting for all those happy murray customers of murray telling us all what a great guy he is.... but ya know......have not seen that, wonder why?

SuperComp1R 12-06-2018 07:10 AM

Merry Christmas to all of you guys (thought i would start out with a nice thought....lol).................murray just one last question, is Dave ever going to get his engine from you or his money back? I kinda think going on 3 or 4 years is long enough for you to know the answer.

Harbone 12-08-2018 03:49 PM

Did the deal ever go to court?

SuperComp1R 12-14-2018 08:11 AM

yes its headed that way now, not sure how long that will take.

SuperComp1R 05-08-2019 04:23 PM

Well here is an update, I sent murray a pm a couple days ago asking him if he was ever going to send dave his engine or refund his money and asked for an answer so i would not have to post this again. Dave had to have his attorney (mr. lawrence Delay) prove the amount Dave had in fact been paid to murray, seems murrays memory was foggy when dave told him his book keeper had lost paperwork, well his attorney did in fact get all the banking records and seems murray was over paid by $3,548.93, makes a total paid to murray of $35,297.93, now to be fair murray sent dave a rebuilt small block (not a race motor) back in 2016 and thats all Dave has got to show for his money, not sure what he charged dave for that motor but my guess is that murray must owe Dave Dunlap at least $27 to $29K or Dude at least send him his motor. MURRAY, if I am wrong come on this site and let me know, some of you might want to know why I am posting this and not Dave Dunlap, he is a great friend and a good guy but does not own a computer nor would he know how to use one. now with what Dave sent murray and attorney fees he is out over $40K.

Harbone 05-16-2019 03:48 AM

I had a bad feeling about this from the start, Murray wanted me to take down the post originally but the more he talked the more I could feel the BS just oozing from his mouth then his dirtbag lawyer called me. I hope Dave gets some resolve from all this mess

SuperComp1R 05-16-2019 04:52 PM

Thanks Chris, I posted this in hopes it would maybe embarrass murray into trying to make good on this deal because he still does business on racing junk, but really I think Dave is going to have to take him to court and see how that works, seems murray lives in canada sometimes, so that might be a hard thing to deal with, something tells me he knows this.

Have placed 2 ads in the past 2 days. Reply to first ad was text about sending bank certified check USPS overnight mail. Second text said check was sent (Sunday of Memorial Day weekend?), excess funds, contact me with shipper information. Realized then it was a scam. Text reply to second ad started with bank certified check spiel. My reply to both has been cash or paypal only, phone call only, no texts. Is this usual for Racing Junk? This is first time I have placed ads on this site. Have used Ebay quite a bit with no problem and have also used Craigs List.

BigBlockMark 05-28-2019 06:17 AM

It happens sometimes. Just ignore any text that includes excess funds being sent. If they can't be reached to talk to in person its a scam. This is a good site for racers to use.

jrsmith440 05-28-2019 08:57 AM

Thanks for the reply. Makes me feel a little better. Scammers seem to have stopped (crossing my fingers).

jrsmith440 05-29-2019 11:50 AM

Spoke too soon. Mark (supposedly in Florida) #727-493-7262 is still texting about sending bank certified check USPS overnight. Received several more texts today. Yes excess money on check, keep mine, will contact me to send to his shipper blah blah blah. My reply more than once no check, no texts, call only. Has become more harassment than anything else. I realize the items I listed have a narrow interest and are very car specific and I'm happy with the views I'm getting, but so far all I have gotten are scam responses. Not too happy with Racing Junk right now because I feel I have paid ad fees (photo gallery) to be harassed. Feels like a total waste after 4-5 days. Going to hang in there for now knowing there are some racers out there that these parts are perfect for since they are priced right and/or unavailable any longer. I'm having to text back on a non-smart phone which is a pain. Give me the old rotary phones with 4 digit numbers.

hey we have all been there and done that with these scammers and a lot of us report them over and over again to only turn around and see them back on the sight trying to take advantage of good folks that are trying to get into this great hobby by listing way way below market value cars . like a 1963 split window comes to mind 18.000 bucks needs nothing a bullet mustang 12.999 who does that . I use to get so mad reporting 3/5 a day then I found myself reporting up near 10 A DAY . BOTTOM LINE IS WE HAVE TO WATCH EACH OTHERS BACK AND PUT the warnings up here just like you have done here . hang in there I have made a lot of friends on this sight and have gotten good advise and good parts when needed . almost got burnt once but like all the guy.s/// gal,s will tell you and keep this in mind if they refuse to call you then mark it off as a scammer . believe it or not there are still good folks out there . keep reporting when possible . if you keep that attitude along with the other 30,000 people a day reporting these dumb a$$$es we just may run them off . the scary thing is to me is they keep coming back and that just tells me that there scam has worked in the past for them not to give up . here is a better idea they should get a real job and donate to society

jrsmith440 05-29-2019 07:25 PM

I'm with you, some of these must work or they would go away. Age and health have left us just a few large items left to sell. Hate to leave the sport we love but its time. Most everything is too much, too many tools in the garage, too many tools in the barn and too many tools in the trailer. Will report these clowns as I come across them. Thanks for the comeback and encouragement.
