I believe i'd go look at it before spending the money, they don't sell a lot of their big blks. any more. they were reallly big in the 80's and i had one it was a wet blk. and definately weaker than the solid blk. I also had a KB chevy blk, and thought it was stronger.
Now that engine did go 6.71 at 217mph in Linda Langes blown alky trans-am in 1986.
The thing i would look for is welding repairs especially in the web area, also you didn't say if it was b/blk or s/blk.
