it ran fine with 91 octane
didnt ping or detonate
but the head gasket blew and when the water went into the cylinder it over compressed witch blew up the piston then the pieces of alluminum cracked the cylinder wall
but i guess i got to look at the bright side
new forged pistons and H beams :P
but i still have to have my back up block bored cleaned and clearenced

FYI
11/1 and pump gas dont mix, round here our premium is 93 W/ 10% ethanol added and I still wouldnt run it in a 11/1 motor.
I had 396 BBC that was 11/1 > I ran a 50/50 mixture of 110 leaded race fuel and 93 pump gas, worked fine that way.
Don't fool yourself into thinking it's ok to run pump gas in a 11 to 1 motor> ping or no ping, its gonna give your problems somewhere down the line.

Ran my 383 with 10.7 to 1 on 91, when i tore it down with approx 50,000 on it there was absolutely zero ring ridge in the bores. The new engine is 12.1 to 1 on 93 this will be intresting( or expensive ) part of the fun.

Todd74:When i run this engine i'll let you know how it run's if it starts popping piston's i'll say it , if it runs hard i'll post video. The engine was thought out by Kirkum Engine's and Reed Cams to run on 93 and hell i only have 1500.00 in the complete bottom end. It's not that i like throwing money away but i am curious as hell to see if this can be made to run daily on 93. I don't know the particulars but i do know the key is the cam design and as they were planning on running a carb and i'll be using electronic fuel injection with almost unlimited tuning ability i'm thinking it will be intresting to see if it can be made to run. If not a new set of pistons and ballance and assorted ammenities.

I did'nt start out to build a 12 to 1 on 93 street engine it occured due to a matter of circumstances. A friend asked me if i wanted to buy a set of Brodix 11x heads ported, polished, and bench flowed by Indy Cylinder Heads, traded for a 406 block with Howards splayed main caps. When the heads came in they were bolted to the 358ci. He suggested rather than seperate them i just buy the bottom end for 1500.00 the bottom end is 71 block that has been squared, decked, offset bored, line bored to clean with a Scat light weight crank with mallory,Eagle 6" H-beam rods and JE dome pistons he then threw in a Reed solid roller 262/267 @50 618/625 lift. At this point i owed him 1500.00 when he reminded me i had previously offered to sell himm my 383 short block for 1000.00 that said i now owed him 500.00 an hour later he offered to call it even if i left my Hyd. roller and Lunati Hyd.roller lifters done deal. At this point i went out and bought a set of Crower solid rollers and a Edelbrock Pro-Flow2 fuel inj unit and figure i'll run it and see how it works out. I wanted to look into having the pistons fly cut but no can do they have the same profile on the bottom as the top. The cam was designed to bleed off cylinder pressue and if it does'nt work it's not like i have a ton of money in it. I was originally building a 415 with a Vortex ysi supercharger this is just a little side trip.
