Shipping cost of slicks
I want to ship new and used slicks. Size is 32 X 16 X 16 for shipping purposes. UPS, USPS and FEDEX all want $60-70 per tire to ship. I am in Illinois and potential buyers are in Wisconsin and Arkansas.
I hate to try to squish them down to get a lower rate.
The actual weight is 37# per tire but the dimensional weight is 93# according to UPS' bull crap formula.
Anybody know a way around this?

Check this out http://www.uship.com/ I had a 55 Chevy pickup seat shipped to me from over 300 miles away. They brought it to my door for $100.00. You tell them what and where you want something shipped. People bid on the job. If you don't like any of the bids, you don't have to accept them.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

I hEAR you Mark, i bought a set of TOYO 14.5X32's early this yr. Shipped from Or. $118.00, i ask what the hell is going on, the factory said $66.00,(the factory was out of the tires) they told me they don't have the same deal on the shipping that the factory does. FedEx is definatly cheaper then UPS and faster.

shipping cost
Thank you guys for the suggestions.
I have the Greyhound quote from the 1 800 729 5020 number. (Be prepared to listen real good to be able to understand the live people on their end.)
They will ship up to 100#. The maximum size is 82" X 47" X 30". They want the weight and the size of the package ( H X W X L).
There is a extra fuel charge to the base rate.
To ship my 2 slicks compressed down to 12" X 30" x 30" from Matton Illinois to (Waukesa) Milwakee, Wisconsin is $80.
It take 24-72 hours.
The label needs your return address, the receivers address and phone number. They call to let him know when/where to pick up.
My buyer has agreed to this price.

Get a few quotes from some LTL truck companies. I had two 44" tall tires (100lbs ea) shipped from Wis. to Ga for only $125. One thing to save money is take them to the freight company yourself or pick them up at the freight company. Dont ship them to your house, it'll cost you more.
Forgot to say, put them on as small of a pallet as you can.
