A9" will live fine with 35spl. axles, BUT does need: back brace and a internally braced housing!! Im talking about the housing the rest was already said! My 9" has internal braces put around the inside and all TIG welded !!!!! EVERYTHING tigged! it matters, and the 4link is braced to the housing and a brace between the 4link itself D.R.

you don't have to spend half the $ & they are still stronger than a 9". i have seen guys spend thousands on 9" only to break them time after time. i see at least two or three a year get broke in heavier cars,i'm not saying their built or braced right i'm just saying i've seen alot of $1300 to$1500 third members get ruined and it usually take the drive shaft & tranny with.again guys this is jmo,i think 9" rear are the only way to go for tube cars & dragsters.

Everyone has their own experience. I ran a 9" in a 3000 lb street ElCamino with 31 spline axles, M/W aluminum bolt thru center section but the housing was stock. NO modifications. Very stout 700+hp small blk and 300 in the fog, 1.30 60', 5.62 1/8th. Not to say there won't be, but so far no problems but axles are showing some twist.

just saw my friends 3200 lbs nova, with a 540 toss all the parts out of his $2000, 9" today. i.m.o. a 9" is only as strong as the money you shovel at it. as stated on another forum on hear, build it with more over kill, than the h.p. you have and it will live...back to a dana 60(that is a little heavy) will hold tons of h.p. with a good spool and axles, just like the are. again,J.M.O.
