My last BBC help question.... I hope...
my 468 has a casting number 7416 gm 1053 steel 4" stroke crank that has been Nitrided and 7/16 dimple rods with arp standard 8740 rod bolts. It has srs pop up pistons and LS6 heads with a roller cam etc etc..
my question is what would be a safe rpm/HP level with this crank and rods? I got a great deal on the shortblock and I am just hoping I can use it safely.
My car is geared for 1/8 mile with 4.86, all but 1 of the tracks I race at is 1/8. but if I sneak off to the 1/4 mile track I would need about 7400 out of this...
thank you for your help...

I read somewhere that GM "suggests" a 7200 rpm limit on 454 a.d 7400 limit on shorter stroked 396/427.Stock,production motors  Intermittent, not constant.I used to take my 402 with stock CAST crank and rods to 7000+ all the time,no problems.But...when you're in high school and don't know any better seems like you could get away with more.If it is properly balanced and you have no valve control problems(which I imagine it is and I doubt you will)I'd think you'll be fine. But I wouldn't want to do it every weekend. But that's an opinion from a non-professional engine builder.Remember that !!!
