personaly id doesnt matter to me for the following reasons 1. seen both 1/8 and 1/4 and both very competitive 2. i can see the pros and cons of both. now personally i have not ran on a track ops: ops:   but we used to have an area that cops would turn there eyes to it was a 1/4 marked out with start and finish lines and had the pinks style arm drop and it was heads up. most was for fun others unofficial test and tune and no matter what bunch of car guys hanging out shairing ideas and friendly racing (tho some money changed hands) and i ran my uncles 64 malibu with a 355 and a 78 camaro with stock 350 (with midwest weight reduction (rust)) and loved it but these just my memories and thoughts for what they are worth

I respect both. Been around 1/4 a lot more. Never tried 1/8th. It seems to me that I would want to set up the ultimate car for ONE or the OTHER... but I only have one. Seen a few airports being used for 1/8th on an occasional weekend... I wish there was more.

I like the 1/8 because it lets you run a lower gear which generally means the car will launch harder if it hooks. The first 100' is the best part in my opinion. Never ran a 1/4 mile though,so I have nothing to compare to.

So let's shorten the 1/4 up to the 1/8 mi to make up for one's in ability to win / go fast by racing the 1/4mi. How about if one can't win/ go fast in the 1/8mi, maybe we should go to 330'...or maybe 60' or how about lets just go for reaction time.
I guess we better call NHRA and have them reset the stripe at 1/8 mi because all the 1/8 mi guys have the race won at half track......give me a break, If you can't run with the big dogs...... stay on the porch.

1/8 -1/4 who gives a shiit, it's a race track aint it? I can change the gear in my car and run the 1/4 all day long, dont matter to me so long as I get to race!!!!!

That'd be 400,000 passes on the quarter per 1 mile at 1 pass each, or 800,000 passes per mile on the 1/8th mile, or..... I'm REEEEEEEELY confused !!!
