It depends on how you're going to use it. If you are going to load & unload with it all of the time spend a couple of extra bucks and get a better one, I would suggest a superwinch or warn in the 3,500 to 4,500 lb range. It will not only hold up better but it will load and unload a lot faster. If it's just for loading when the car is broke and will only get occasional use the 2500 lb. would be ok. Keep in mind that if you say break a rear sometimes they will try to lock up and a heavier duty winch is more likely to be capable of dragging it on the trailer.

Mount it on the side of the trailer and pull through a clevis hook and pulley at the front it will almost double the power of the winch. I use a el cheapo harbor freight winch that is portable...mounts on a quick release plate and it pulls my 3100 lb car up on my trailer just fine...it is a little slow but it does not get hot (knock on wood) But I only use it to load up at home cause The car lives at my fathers house and he lives in a housing addition and does not like me to run it any more than needed due to noise and upsetting neighbors.

I also bought a chepo 2500lb from Harbor Freight. $69 buck and it has a key pad remote too!!! works ok, but SLOW because i have to use a snatch block to make it pull my 3,700lb truck. go for at least a 4500lb and it will save you some bucks in the long run!!
