Ford Shows Off the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD

Today Ford revealed the brand-new 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, an unparalleled technological masterpiece inspired by the upcoming Mustang GT3 set to compete in Le Mans the following year.

Unapologetic in honoring its heritage, mind-boggling in its performance, its meticulously sculpted predominantly carbon fiber wide body and imposing rear wing communicate volumes at a single glance.

This incarnation of the Mustang is unlike any previous model.

“Mustang GTD defies all established notions of a supercar. Our approach is novel. We didn’t adapt a road car for the track; we forged a racing car for the streets. Mustang GTD borrows racing innovations from our Mustang GT3 race car, encases them in a carbon fiber Mustang exterior, and unleashes this fusion onto the urban roads.” Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO

Every intricate component of the Mustang GTD is meticulously crafted with a distinct purpose. Each contour is guided by function. Its sole mission: to dominate the racetrack with a greater infusion of technology than the race cars it draws inspiration from.

The development of Mustang GTD involved many of the same individuals who spearheaded Ford’s Mustang race cars and the triumphant Le Mans-winning GT. This model is constructed to be the fastest road-ready Mustang ever.

Mustang GTD grips the pavement firmly through remarkable downforce from adjustable active aerodynamics and substantial traction from oversized tires attached to a sophisticated dual ride height short-long arm front and multi-link rear suspension.

Its stopping power is undeniable, thanks to carbon ceramic brakes. It incorporates an 8-speed dual-clutch transaxle mounted in the rear and a lightweight carbon fiber driveshaft to achieve nearly perfect 50/50 weight distribution.

And every facet operates with breathtaking velocity courtesy of a harmonious supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine that targets an estimated 800 horsepower*.

“We fixated on the racing technology beneath its surface. The driving force behind it is even more captivating than its fleeting appearance as it streaks past you. Upon examining the engineering, the aerodynamics, the mechanics of the powertrain, the Mustang GTD transforms into a road-bound rocket ship.” Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance Motorsports
