After the manufacturing of the 911 started, Porsche introduced the 912, a similar, cheaper, slower option opposed to the traditional 911. The 912 essentially took the same body-style from the 911 and just swapped out the engine for a 356-derived 4-cylinder engine. The 912 started manufacturing during 1965 and continued until 1969, outpacing the 911 sales, and boosting the Porsche manufacture name.
This 1966 Porsche 912 was developed for the Iberian Historic Endurance Series. It was an Endurance Racer and a Tarmac Rally Car. Its furious Gulf colors on the outside show how crazy this car is. It has been stripped down to just the chassis and lightened it even more, as well as converting the 912 body to a 911. The exterior consists of wide fiberglass fenders and a ducktail spoiler, and with this being a race car, the hood is also fully removable. The car has front and rear tow hooks, a removable set of headlight covers, plastic vented RSR ride and rear windows, and a carbon fiber front splitter. Air-Jacks have also been installed, which can be seen in the backseat of the car along with the front wheel-wells. The interior consists of a lot of carbon fiber, a Carbon Fiber Dashboard, Stacks instruments with 10,000 RPM Tach. Carbon fiber door panels, a Momo removable steering wheel and a competition handbrake. A 7-gear Billet Quick shifter has been fitted inside as well as a fully welded roll cage, Sparco, and OMP Race seats and Belts for the driver and co-pilot, Sparco race pedals, and a fire extinguisher. A Sachs ceramic competition clutch has been fitted, along with an Upgraded C/R Gearbox, paired with a Limited slip differential. The engine has been taken from a Porsche 356 and it is originally a 4-Cylinder producing 59 hp. The new engine is managed by Black Forest Racing, and it was upgraded to a 3.2 liter 350 hp monster. The Crankshaft, liners, shells, RS cams, and valves have all been upgraded. The Pistons have been upgraded to Wossner High Compression pistons, oversized valve heads (ported and flowed) have been installed, along with Uprated fans and pullies, a front oil cooler, a high-pressure oil pump, Weber IMO 40DCOE Carbs, Twin racing fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulator, MSD Ignition control system, and Twin HiPo Coils. To fuel this beast, a 100 liter fuel cell from ATL has been installed in the bow of the car.
To keep Frankenstein on the ground, 2-piece Big Braid rims have been fitted and to fit the rims, new Toyo Proxes R888 have been wrapped around. Uprated 968RS and 964 Cup Brakes have been installed and the brake discs are drilled and vented, also AP racing brake master cylinders were fitted to help slow down from the speeds this car can put out. The Chassis has obviously been upgraded and a custom forward engine mount has been made and installed. Adjustable rear sway and brake balance bars, Porsche 930 sway bars, 930 from torsion bars and steering rack, Poly bushings, and a Fully adjustable Bilstein Nürburgring Suspension Kit have all been installed for the car. The car has paint chips around the quick-release buttons for the hood as well as the edges of the wheel-wells. The car is Registered and Titles in North Carolina.
